Natural Polymers

prod2
Polymers which occur naturally and can be extracted from their respective source. They are often water soluble in nature. Examples of naturally occurring polymers are silk, wool, DNA, cellulose, proteins and starch. The human body contains many natural polymers, such as proteins and nucleic acids. Cellulose is the main structural component of plants and is a natural polymer. Another example of natural polymer starch is a condensation polymer made from hundreds of glucose monomers, which split water molecules. All proteins are condensation polymers of amino acids. The Human body is estimated to have 1,00,00 different proteins.
